Hi
So far I have only had one TC when I was a teenager some 13 or so years ago. It has always been treated as a one off and I have recently been told by an epileptologist my risk of further seizures is now down to the risk of the general population.
My only query is that I had 2 simple febrile seizures when I was a baby (12 months and again at 18 months old).
I just wondered how many people here had a history of simple febrile seizures as a baby but then developed epilepsy at a later age, say from the teenage years onwards.
I read that kids who have febrile seizures only have a very marginally increased risk of develeoping epilepsy, and I have been told that having only had one seizure means I don't have epilepsy. However, the fact I had febrile seizues as a baby and then a non febrile one some 16 years later, to me suggests that there might be a low seizure threshold there i.e. epilepsy. The experts don't seem to be bothered by a history of febrile seizures, especially as they are quite common, and seem to discount it when assessing future risk, but I just wondered what people thought as to whether the febrile seizure and the later one were likely connected.
