I just discovered one of my nostrils is blocked or something.
Air doesn't come out. I tested it.

and i'm not congested.

Now i'm discovering why i often open my mouth. my dumb nose is not efficient in breathing.

I have an appointment with Dr next week. i'm gonna tell himt this.

Any of you have experience with nostrils being blocked?

You could be suffering from nasal polyps which can block breathing and sinus drainage. Nasal sprays could help with this. Or it could be a deviated septum. This will mean surgery. Or just plain sinusitis. Make sure you tell your dr. all of your symptoms and all of the meds you are taking as some of the side effects could be the cause, also.

One of my nostrils is partially blocked due to the weather or allergies or something. How long has it been that way. A lot of things can make one side swell, but if it is bugging you, have a general physician check it out.

I'm testing it now and now air comes out. When i was testing it in the night like at 3am or 4am...air didn't come out of that nostril but now it does.

weird. Maybe i had some deep mucous because i triedt o pick my nose to see if i had something and i didn't . so it was probably really deep

Dab some wasabi on your tongue. That should clear things up REAL quick!

i've had sinus issues for almost 5 years, and no specialist can find the cause. have done all allergy tests i could plus ENT scans plus thyroid plus digestive... anything they could all think of. ended up with 'we just can't find an answer!' and i'm prescribed flonase. works for a bit but you have to do it daily, i don't want to, it's hard on my nose and causes massive sneezing, which is my main problem to begin with. they say the steroids help build strenth in the sinuses but for me it's not worth the agony.
from all the tests tho it wasn't plugged, it was swollen almost shut. they said there's a real difference, but they don't know why i have it. so, i live with it.
lol that was one of my first questions to my neurosurg... any chance it can help my nose? he's like, 'uhhh, highly unlikely, no.' sounds dumb but with good reason, as i also had an arachnoid cyst and the ENT thought it was a possible cause for a nasal leak.
well the surg took the cyst out as well as the lesion (was not part of the plan but thanks man!), and it didn't change a thing.
sigh, like we don't deal with enough ;) if you have the problem again def go to the doc.

I also suffer from that. One nostril works fine. While the other hardly works, or not at all.
In my case I suffer from Asthma. But I also believe I may have a deviated septum. I've
always breathed through my mouth. It just happened naturally. I had to make myself breathe through my nose to do it. When I do one side tends to whistle. I also get a runny nose like crazy. This also adds to the problem.

If your situation is really bothersome go see a "Ear, Nose, Throat Specialist" and see what
could be done to correct your problem.

Unfortunately for me was born with a deviated septum, thus the eventual cause of my seizures. Was born in 74, then in 90 while in high school, ended up with an unknown sinus infection that caused a brain abscess. Was lucky enough to get through the last two years of high school and one year of community college before the scar tissue from surgery started my epilepsy. I really never thought anything bad about breathing out of one nostril since it changed sides every other day. Surprised no general doctor ever realized I only breathed out of one nostril. Ridiculous!! :(
