I went for my appointment with my neurologist today, it went better than I thought but not by much. In the end I came to a compromise I would try a new drug called zebinix, can anybody tell me something about it. Like what did you think and so on, I know we are all different but I would still like to hear what you think.

Well, that's something, I guess. When will you start the new med, and when will you see the neuro again?

Zebenix is approved in Europe, but not yet in the U.S., so you'll have to be the guinea pig for those of us in America. It's related to Trileptal and works similarly in terms of seizure control and side effects. Have you ever tried Trileptal before?

I hope it helps in every way Liam. Keep us posted.

Nakamova

I was hoping you would not say that, I do not like the side effects of it. It's related to Lamictal as well and I did not do well on Trileptal. Thanks for the thought Nakamova.

Don't stress Liam. Just because it is related and has similar side affects does not necessarily mean that you will experience the same side effects that you did with Trileptal. Although it is related it is not the same drug and lets hope that it will affect you differently and in a positive way. It is also related to Tegretol but it is supposed to have fewer drug interactions than the others. Good luck

Sandie

Thank you Sandie, I am trying not to stress but things are not looking good from my point of view. This bothers me a bit I have tried most of the anti seizure drugs there cannot be many left for me to try and that bothers me more. I am probably over thinking things but I am getting to old for having to stand my corner.

I hear you, Liam. You're a lot like me, you're not over thinking things, just realizing that we're running out of options. I've not heard of this med, but I've tried Trileptal and Lamictal. I was taken off Trileptal because of the sodium level and Lamictal didn't do a thing for my seizures.

I'm currently taking Keppra along with Topomax and my neuro added Potiga. She informed me that Potiga can cause loss of vision if on it for very long. So she had me go to an eye specialist to have it checked out. So far, so good.

So for you, don't hesitate to call on your neuro if experiencing any problematic side effects with this new med. Good luck!

Cint

Thanks for the thought and compassion. It's the contacting the neurologist that could be more problematic though.
