Can anyone recommend any good epileptologists or nurse practitioners, and also possibly psychiatrists in the finger lakes area? Preferably in and around Auburn would be great so I don't have to drive so far, second choice would be in Rochester. I hear Rochester has a level 4 epilepsy center and I've also read the hospitals there have good mental health resources too only problem is it's a 45 minute drive from here one way which is a problem with work.

Any insight would be appreciated!!

Hi Res,

I've been going to Rochester NY at Strong Memorial Hospital since 1972, I tried Syracuse for my 1st surgery but I wasn't to pleased with them and they told me I
was boarder line down syndrome after they were trying to do pshyc testing on me the day after surgery. Rochester ranks number 5 in the U.S. the last I knew they
have great teams of Drs. that work together at a Epilepsy Center. Strong did my main brain surgery and I loved how all the Drs. worked together as a team.
I've seen Dr. Lynn Liu whose both an Epileptologist and sleep specialist, John Langfitt is a neurophysch and Dr. Webster Pilcher is the head neurosurgeon. Check out URMC
(university of Rochester Medical Center) and then go to the neuro page. Try calling either of these numbers 585-341-7500 or 585-341-7420. Let me know how you make out.
Take my word the Finger Lakes don't have many specialist when it comes to epilepsy.
Wishing you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

Res,

To get info about Syracuse type Syracuse University Hospital then go to Upstate University and check out all the neuros and Epileptologist there. I see they are all new
Drs. but from my personal experience as I mentioned I would stick with Rochester. Wishing you only the best and May God Bless You!
