my friend gets upset when she has to wear her helmet, shes in her mid 40s, and doesnt like how it looks...and is fed up of ppl making fun of her because of it.
has anybody here suffered criticism for wearing epilepsy helmets? how did u deal with it?

AND

are there any helmets that are less obvious to wear, more funky perhaps, or invisible even...lol...even clear coloured helmet would make a difference or something disguised..

ur comments/experiences are appreciated...thanx bazzle

Hi bazzle, welcome!

I'm not a helmet wearer myself, but I can imagine it must be a tough thing to adjust to.

Here's one thread from this site you might want to check out:
http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f21/i-think-i-need-helmet-6583/

Is the helmet absolutely necessary for your friend? Does she have uncontrolled tonic-clonic or drop seizures? Or is it balance/stability issues?

There are a few different sites out there selling helmets. Don't know which kind she has but she might want to look into them:

Also hockey helmets work in most cases, and can look pretty cool.

Many (disabled) children who have seizures with falling (tonic-clonics, atonics) wear helmets for saftey. I know a few kids who have special types.

F.i. this one, a soft, more comfortable helmet instead of hard material.
Meyland Smith type Toppen77 (Pestman Import BV Netherlands)

For kids they do make helmets that look more nice with special colours and applications. F.i. this one
