Nakamova,

Do you see a general neurologist or an epileptologist (neurologist who specializes in epilepsy). It can make a big difference. Also, I notice you live in Massachusetts. I know there are top research hospitals in the Boston area and that's where you will find the epileptologists.

masterjen,

I don't know exactly how the medical system works in Canada b/c I live in the states. But, I research medical specialists and hand pick them. For example, I know where they went to med school, where they did their residency, and fellowship; what hospital(s) they have worked at, and what their position(s) were, what their research areas are, etc. For example, I needed to see a foot surgeon some years ago. I picked a specialist who went to Harvard med school and takes care of the professional ballet dancers where I live.

Hi Music36 --

I've seen an epileptologist at Beth Israel in Boston -- it's one of the top research hospitals that you refer to. I've also seen neurologists (including my current one) at two other Boston-area hospitals that I would classify as neurologists with subspecialties in epilepsy: Both of them trained at Beth Israel in epilepsy, but they wear more than one neurology hat in the hospitals they're now affiliated with. So you're right, my current neurologist is not technically an epileptologist, and that lets him off the hook a bit. But my Beth Israel epileptologist, the one I saw for 6+ years was not into discussing alternative approaches or up-and-coming treatment trends either...

Nakamova,

I guess it can depend on the individual doctor and/or the hospital bureaucracy (office politics).

Hi Nakamova,
I used to live in Mass and I personally like both Beth Israel and Mass. General Hospital. I've been going to Strong Memorial Hospital in NY which is a University hospital teaching students and staff about new treatments for epilepsy and other medical problems, this may be one reason why they are trying the cbd oil. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

I do the same thing. Looking up the details of doctors is very important. I also ask my current doctors who they would go to, and if you like and trust your current doctor(s) and have a long-term relationship with them they will give you honest answers. This at least gives a starting point for doing my own research.

Porkette I'm sorry for hijacking your thread a bit. I hope you have success with the CBD oil going forward! :)

I've done that, too. I asked my daughter's orthodontist many years ago who his dentist was and then started going that same dentist

Hi Nakamova, masterjen, and Music36,

I don't consider you hijacking the thread at all, how do people learn other than reading about what people post. It's no problem at all. In regards to the cbd oil so far not a single seizure and this past week is when I usually have them each month. Hopefully I have found something that will stop the seizures forever. Take care and God Bless All of You!

Sue

She no let me get it she thought drug dog at Gatwick would stop us and we had train to get

Hi Porkette,
I hope the CBD oil works for you. I smoke medical marijuana and it helps reduce the frequency and intensity of my seizures as well as helping with the pain and fatigue that I have after seizures. I would recommend trying oils/products from a variety of websites and manufacturers. A little research helps a lot with all the bs floating around on the interwebs. I was reading on healthyhempoil.com, they do mention that cannabis and hemp are different types of plants. What they don't mention is the difference between sativas and indicas, nor do they mention all of the different cannibinoids that have been identified, which CBDs are better for epilepsy, and which plant or extract is best for what types of health problems.

Hi gbpackerfan,

I found out the correct type of cbd oil to use through healthy hemp oil by sending them an e-mail and they also have a toll free number you can call to get the correct info. you need. According to both my Dr. and healthy hemp employees smoking the medical marijuana wasn't good for me because cancer runs in my family and smoking the med. mar. would put me at more of a risk. I've checked out many websites and oils and so far I've found that the healthy hemp oil was the best one for me especially since they are giving people a 90 day money back if the hemp oil doesn't work.
The spray that I'm using does have cannabis in it and like you mentioned it can make you a little tired until you get used to it. If you want more detail as to what's the best type for you just e-mail healthyhempoil and they will get back to you or you can give them a call. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

I see doc tomorrow I intend to ask about this but got feeling I be kicked out if I do.Not sure if it allowed in uk.Anything that helps never allowed God forbid if patient has any ideas.Doc twice told me go home get Google prescribe it

Hi seagull,
I wish you the best of luck with the Dr. tomorrow. I don't know how it is in the UK but I know here where I live many Drs. like to push prescription meds so they can make the money, I finally put my foot down and told them no more since I tried 10 or more and nothing worked that's when I started to use coconut oil and B12 now the cbd oil and since I've been on that I haven't had a single seizure even when there's been a low pressure in the weather which really triggers seizures for me often. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

hco It was big fat no from doc said hospital not licenced.I got cocnut oil the worse thing I ever tasted but trying shove bit down.I read about vit B12 you can get as nose spray I tried get it but chemist here not clue what I talking about.Taking it by mouth you lose a lot of it

Hi seagull,
You don't have to taste the coconut oil I just put it on my skin twice a day and it works great you may want to give that a try if you are interested. As far as the B12 I know I take the vitamin once a day and it has really reduced my seizures because B12 helps calm the nerves down. Speak with your pharmacist and they can fill you in on the detail of how B12 works. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

peppermint spray

Why the hell you used peppermint spray instead clean oil? If you check literature, You will find that mint is not to be used by epileptics. I do not know what compound from the plant, nobody checked. Please, please if anybody is using CBD oil, CHECK what you are using. There is a lot of confusion on the market, companies are selling crap and it is impossible to do real study to see if it is helping or not because they are adding stupid compounds or even synthetic CBD to olive oil and claiming that this is THE RIGHT THING.

Take care

Suzana

Hi vekasuiv,

Thanks for your concern, people can get the hemp oil in the taste of hemp or other flavors. I've had no problems using the peppermint taste with the CBD oil. The company
offers 100% money back if the CBD doesn't work for a person and my neuro is very pleased with how it's working for me my seizures have reduced greatly. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!
