I don't know if this has anything at all to do with seizures....but it is driving me crazy.

My ears will get a very full, ringing, muffled feeling (usually the left ear)....then go to no hearing at all....then back to the full muffled, very hard to hear feeling.

I am not diagnosed yet...but my first EEG showed spikes in the left parietal lobe. I am scheduled for a 3 day EEG. (they keep moving the date)....but hopefully within the next two weeks.

I am also Dx with MS and Migraines.

Anyone else have this??

Thanks

Usually ringing in the ears indicates there is some excess wax buildup on the eardrum. An ear, nose and throat specialist could help you with looking for that issue.

I have auditory hallucinations during tonic clonic seizures, i would address it sooner than later

I get a ringing in my ears too its like a super high pitched eeeeeeee but its sooo high pitched that (well if I concentrate I can hear it but if I dont pay any attention it fades into the background) its particularly loud at night when i am trying to fall asleep. It is a bit touch and go though ....I guess it all depends on what is normal for you bc this is fairly normal for me...auditory hallucinations are very very common with anyone particularly in terms of music *i get songs stuck in my head alll the blankety blank time its really annoying but I am musical person so it must be more common for people like me ---so unless of course you start hearing voices telling you to do things hahahaha dont worry about it.
ok seeya

I have had hearing loss and now deafness since age 4. I wear hearing aids and have a 90 percent hearing loss in both ears due to sensory-neuro hearing loss/damaged nerves as well as conductive hearing loss.
Since being born three months early I have had many many ear infections and those symptoms you are describing sounds more like fluid build up, wax blocking your hearing or the start of an ear infection.
Sometimes allergies can make your ear feel full and make it harder to hear.
I have to get my ears cleaned by the doctor when I get an infection. The joys of wearing hearing aids sometimes is that even if I get an infection I still wear my hearing aids. You're normally supposed to leave them out and let the air in.
Also ask to be referred to an ENT/ear nose and throat doctor and they can give you a hearing test, balance test and look in your ears to see if there are any structural or nerve damage or any ear drum probs.

Hope you feel better.
Oh, try some Benydril to see about getting ride of some of the fluid or looking into some ear drops.

Take care,
Crystal

REGNECY-
Tinnitus is something I deal with everyday. Its a high pitched ringing sound that sometimes sound like sand going in my ear. Its due to nerve damage and can be a sign of infection or fluid build up.
If it shows up when its quite, its Tinnitus. There are two kind- one you can hear and only you, and the other can actually be heard with a machine by the doctor. Mine has been bothering me for the last 9 years and is due to severe hearing loss.
Those who listen to loud music or are working in loud environments can also get Tinnitus.
Sometimes Tinnitus can sound like people talking in the background but usually most people complain of a high pitch ringing sound or other sounds.

My hearing loss has start at age 4 and as my hearing gets worse (90% loss now) the Tinnitus gets worse. My brain tries to product auditory sounds especially when I take out my hearing aids and hear almost nothing.
My vision does the same thing. my brain tries to put things in the visual part of my brain since I don't see but a small amount.

I would also recommend you see an ENT too just in case there is something going on with your ears. Tinnitus isn't normal- and if you hear it all day or off and on- more at night time, then its probably what it is.

Take care,
Crystal

thanks for all the responses.

To answer the questions...yes, i have been to the ENT and he said my ears were normal...no wax, no fluid, etc.

I also had my hearing checked, though it was at a time when I was not having the full muffled feeling, but I did have the ringing, and it was within normal limits.

So, maybe this all has something to do with the MS and not seizures....just thought I would ask.

thanks again.

Interesting...
Do you wear a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) with humidity built into it?
That can cause humidity and extra pressure on the ear drums.

I've made a habit of not drinking fluid at least 2 hours before bedtime. Maybe it's acid reflux?

I have tinnitus in both ears so badly that I almost always have my Zune or iPod on, but I'm told it's a fairly common occurrence with TBI. I've also read somewhere (maybe here?) that if it really gets to be too much for you, a little white noise sometimes helps.
