Steve Harvey blew it.

Thanks I Googled it too and found it. Although its old doesn't hurt to be reminded.

"Remember that controversial Olympic logo for the 2012 Olympics in London? Some folks have complained that the campaign actually sent them into epileptic seizures," Roker said on last Thursday's show. "Well, we asked you to weigh in on our Web site in an informal poll; those of you who could get up off the floor after shaking around were able to actually log in . . . "

Sorry I am so late joining in on this thread but this makes me so angry. I actually like this comedian or used to after reading this thread. He recently came to my home town. If I would have read this thread earlier I would have protested this man's comedy tour in my home town regarding this incident. This is the very reason why people like me find it hard to get diagnosed for seizure disorder. This is appauling to say the very least. I am not going to watch anymore of his shows or go to anymore of his tours. That was a very tacky joke and it offened millions. Al Roker should be ashamed also. People need to watch what they say and what makes it worse is the T.V. networks let these people get away with saying these things. I am glad I have satelite and do not get these channels if that is the kind of trash that they air.

tam bam

Here is another one like Steve Harvey and the other jokers, Dr. Oz and Oprah. He had a person faking a seizure. It did not look like a seizure at all. You can look up the website at: He took out the video. I put in the website and nothing. He got to many complaints.

Here are some people who are really making epilepsy real and are raising awareness. There is Amy Lee for one. She is a songwriter, singer and pianist. She founded the band Evanscence. She is an advocate for epilepsy. She has epilepsy, too. Her website is:

http://www.outoftheshadows.com

There is also the actor Greg Gundberg. His son, Jake has epilepsy. He is raising awareness and funding money for epilepsy research. His website is:

http://talkaboutit.org

There is also Hugo Weaving. He has not kept his epilepsy a secret. He talked about it in an interview in 2006 on TV.

He decided not to get a driver's license. He was thrown off stage during a performance at the Sydney Opera House after he collapsed and had seizures.

So there are good role models out there.

While I think it is cool you posted Amy's "out of the shadows web" site, bear in mind that it is her brother who has seizures: Lee became the American Chairperson for Out of the Shadows in 2006. This organization is an international foundation with the goal of providing education about epilepsy. "Lee's younger brother, Robby, was previously diagnosed with this condition.[30] " Source: wikipedia.

Thank you for the added information. I did not know it was her younger brother who had epilepsy. Learn something new everyday.

Hi Shelley,

I looked it up under your wikipedia website. It is #49 under notes.

EPILEPSY FEARS OVER 2012 OLYMPICS SEGMENT OF ANIMATED FOOTAGE

The animated footage was promoting the 2012 Olympics has been removed from the organizers' website after fears it could trigger epileptic seizures.

It is not the logo itself but the animation that caused the seizures. It caused seizures in a lot of people with epilepsy.
