Hi everyone,

first I wanted to say thank you and that this is a great forum. I cant believe how many responses I got in my last thread and how quickly people respond! It seems like people really care.

Anyways, I have TLE, and am looking into surgery. Ive had some testing done but my MRI is completely normal. I had the VEEG and had over 10 seizures (complex partial and secondary generalized both). Doc says it is all coming from the left temporal lobe and can be cured/reduced with surgery... even with the lack of evidence on the MRI.

I have done some research and it can be done successfully but more tests are usually required to pinpoint where they are coming from. But I read some studies that talked about the high percentage of people with normal MRI's that do not go on to surgery... (the study was back in 99 so a little outdated)

SO I dont want to make this thread about me. I want to hear from any of you who have had/are going to have a Temporal lobectomy even though you have had your MRI results come out normal...

Thanks,

-Nick

I have temporal lobe epilepsy. (on my left side) and Ive never had surgery before. Ive been on medications my whole life. All my MRI's come back normal too, but my EEG's show epileptic activity going on. I had my first VEEG almost a year ago, and since then Ive been on Keppra XR to control my seizures. Sorry I cant comment on the surgery part, I just wanted to let you know that I also have temporal lobe epilepsy, but havnt talked about surgery with my dr.
