I ordered my daughter three kids books about epilepsy a couple days ago. I hope they are ok. I am figuring they will focus more on what you typically picture when you think seizure, and not her seizures, but I thought she could use a little help understanding.

I will keep you all informed how the books are!

What books did you find? How old is your daughter. I have been trying to find things to help me explain seizures to my daughter as well

My daughter has temporal lobe epilepsy, with most simple partial seizures presenting with mostly visual hallucinations(auras), though it was progressing to complex partial seizures(she started having the inability to move her arms even though she was trying). I know these will be more of "typically" pictured epilepsy, but I still thought they might help. Plus my son is so susceptible to febrile seizures. Luckily, up until this point, she hasn't seen any, but just in case!

Thanks so much I will check them out my daughter has complex partials also.

RM, if you have the time or inclination you should review each of them in the Critics Corner once you've read them. Also let us know how your daughter liked each book.

Update:

We received the books today. Two of them, "Mommy I Feel Funny!" and "Let's Learn with Teddy about Epilepsy" were VERY cute. "Teddy" was about absence seizures, which we didn't relate to, was still very easy to understand for kiddos, and would be a good one for a kid with absence seizures.

"Funny" was the hit in this house. My daughter(and I!) were very surprised to see the focus on auras. The little girl in the story, Nel, even felt like there was a monster or feeling scared, a bad feeling my daughter often described. We were both very happy.

I will do a more thorough review soon!

I'm going to order the Teddy one. My daughter has absence seizures and it would be great to have that! thanks!!!
