Mary Poppins became tired one evening while travelling. She decided to stay in a rustic country inn. She checked into a room and went upstairs. After resting she called the desk and requested a menu to order a meal. She decided to have a casserole of cauliflower with cheese and eggs benedict.

The next morning she went downstairs to check out. The clerk asked her to please write a review of her meal in a book he handed her. Mary Poppins wrote in the book and left.
The clerk read her notes which said,

"super cauliflower cheese but eggs were quite atrocious!"

I know Zoe, I was busy doing prevarication till 2.19 AM before I quit and went to bed... Very addicting game but good for my English vocabulary.

Bigman, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious , I just found out, contains over 200.000 (!) known English words according to an online 'words-in-words' machine.

So if you don't mind, I'll just do the alphabet as far as possible.

A - ACCELERATORS
B - X
C - CALCULATOR
D - DOCTORS
E - EXTRA
F - FRAGILE
G - GESTURES
H - X
I - IDEALISTIC
J - X
K - X
L - LOLLIPOPS
M - X
N - X
O - OPUS
P - PARTIAL
Q - X
R - REPRESS
S - SLICES
T - TAXES
U - USUAL
V - X
W- X
X - XTC
Y - X
Z - X

And IMO, unless your first language is not English, using computer programs to do this game is cheating.

I consider it cheating too when you language is not English. What would be the fun of playing the game if you do so?

In the case of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, that seemed a bit of an undoable word to me and IMO it could have necked the game. Zoe wrote her brain froze on it, Bigman didn't even try. I myself hesitated to do so. So I decided looking for a tool just to see how many English words would be possible. The result was discouraging. So I decided to find a solution by just doing the alphabet. Not a single word of that came from some machine.

But of cause you're very welcome to dissect supercalifragilisticexpialidocious yourself because I didn't follow the rules on this one.

Oh I totally agree that that "word" was out there. Thank you for taking care of it however it had to be done. I just didn't want the thread to get to be "dueling computer programs" instead of an actual brain game. I had no idea until you brought it up that such programs even existed. What will they think of next?

So.......

Thanks Bigman!

I deliberately took the game out of the fridge less than a week ago. It was in there since January 2nd 2015 (!) and it would have been a shame to be put in so soon again. It is one of my favorites from Brain's Games. So let's keep dissecting them!

Aloha, I didn't know about these kind of programs too until I started looking for something to find out how many words would be possible. I really was stunned by the number of possibilities that showed up.

I'll do mesmerizing without one. But... that is one I need to Google for translation since I have no idea what it might mean (won't be something with mermaids, maybe something with measuring or memorize?) And sometimes I have to check my spelling too. But that's no cheating as far as I'm concerned.
