    Seizure Background
I was born in 1958 and diagnosed with epilepsy in 1992 after having a GTC seizure, although in retrospect I probably had smaller seizures, and possibly unwitnessed GTCs, for much of my life. I have only had one GTC in the past 27 years but I have probably 300 or so simple and/or complex partial szs. per year. I'm currently on Lamictal, and have a vns, which was implanted 1-8-14 and activated on 1-20-14. I doubt that I will ever be seizure-free, but I am hopeful that the vns will reduce the number of seizures I have. I pretty much don't think meds will ever do that. I've been on a number of them and either they don't work too well or the side-effects are intolerable. That's why I decided to try the vns.
    Lamictal 400 mg/day. I have had a vns since January of 2014.
