    Seizure Background
I have had epilepsy since I was 7 years old (for almost 30 years) which have changed over time but basically right now are refractory. In other words they are not controlled by any amount of medication I take for them.

My seizures come in two forms auras and partial complex seizures. Auras typically last about 1 to 3 minutes, I don't black out, and am still aware that something is going on. Someone may speek to me and I cannot answer the question or answer it with one word.

Partial complex seizures last anywhere from 1 to 10 minute, followed by a recovery period of up to 30 minutes. I blank out completely usually with no warning sign. I may still do things like walk around, answer people with one or two words, or tug at my clothes. I tend to show signs of progress when starting a new med which is frustrating because after about a week I'm back to the seizures again. Medication also really affects my memory.

I try to stay positive and hope that one day I will get better. I still can do things that I love, like writing music, and helping other people. Epilepsy is just something I have to deal with right now.
