    Seizure Background
Grand mal seizure at work lead to the finding of a brain tumor the size of a baseball on top of the left parietal and parts of the front lobe, covering both the motor strip and sensory strip. Surgery to remove it was successful and for the last 9 yrs i've have had no re occurrence. But now i'm left with epilepsy. Doc says further surgery will not help in my case for the seizures.

For me, the meds i was on before Gabapentin where not helping me much and in the case of Lamotrigine, it actually made my seizures 10x worse then i was use to. That's when my doc suggested i try Gabapentin. I didn't care what i would try next, just get me off the Lamotrigine was my attitude. With Gabapentin, i finally found some control over my seizure. Not a cure, but just a little control that I never had with the drugs I was on before. How would you like it if your seizures were in the safety of your own home? Well with Gabapentin, my seizures have mostly been in the mornings. I can now boast that out of the last 32 seizures i've had, 29 have been in the mornings, since starting on Gabapentin. The reason is because of the times i take the meds and the duration of medicine. Since the meds only work for 6hrs, once i take my last dosage at 7pm, it starts to ware off after 6hrs, that would be around 1am. So from 1am till 7am, when i normally take my meds, i'm not covered by medication. Here is the way i control it, since i wake at 6am there is an hours time between 6am and 7am that i'm not on medication and that has been the time that my seizure have happened in the mornings. In the safety of my own home. That to me is a miracles. Will this work for you? I haven't a clue, but if you have tried the other meds i've had without success it may work for you. Maybe if you are of European background it will work for you. I know some will say why don't I take time release capsules and not have any seizures. I've thought about that and to risk having a seizure out of the safety of my home is not worth it. If they are going to happen let them happen in the safety of my home. Before i head out to work.
