apparently sodium biborate (borax) was used in the treatment of epilepsy with success?

brb, going to my laundry room.

by the way, i know borax is a mix of compounds and probably a quick trip to the grave if consumed.

I think it turned out that initial positive results were due to Borax increasing the blood absorption of the other meds that the patients were on (like phenytoin). And no attention was being paid to its side effects on the asylum patients... It's not currently considered an effective anti-seizure med.

That is a shocking read. And to think of what we 'used' to do... I imagine in 100 years people will look back on today saying "wow, i can not believe we did that!"
