I am 2 months into the 6 months of no driving restriction from my current Dr. I live in Illinois which does not require a seizure free time period in which you have to clear in order to regain driving privileges. Once I am given the permission from the Dr. do I have an obligation to give this information to the DMV and my insurance provider?

Nope! I assume that in Illinois the docs aren't required to let the DMV know about your seizure. That's the case where I am in Massachusetts -- it's "on the honor system". So after my seizures, I waited the proper time, and then began driving again. Neither the DMV nor my insurance company needed to be informed or were.
