Is drinking water higher in Ph Levels beneficial to epileptics? My daughter has tonic clonic seizures and is also non-verbal autism, we stay away from caffeine and artificial sweeteners so she drinks a lot of LaCroix waters, and it was recently recommended that she drink Fiji (or comparable) water.

Thanks for any input!

Most people get the electrolytes they need from their diet, and don't need to drink special water or sports drinks to provide those. Unless your daughter is at risk of dehydration due to dietary issues, vigorous exercise or extended heat exposure, then water with higher electrolyte content won't make a difference.

If she does require water with higher electrolyte content, then she's better off drinking mineral water, or sticking with the LaCroix waters. Fiji water doesn't have any particular nutritional benefits above and beyond those of drinking regular water, and has a lower concentration of minerals than mineral water.

Dehydration/Electrolyte imbalance can be a seizure trigger for some people -- if this seems to be the case for your daughter, then the most important thing is that she eats a balanced diet and drinks an appropriate amount of water.
