For the last several months, I have had times when my mind basically freezes up. I am totally aware of what is going on around me. However, I have a hard time trying to communicate and whatever I was talking about is lost. I don't think these are absence seizures since I am aware of what is going on. Just seems like I mentally freeze up.

Does anyone else experience anything like this?

Is it possible that these are a form of absence seizure?

Hi BuckeyeFan,

I've had this happen to me and my Epileptologist has told me I'm having aura seizures also known as simple
partial seizures and sometimes they will lead into a complex partial seizure when it happens.
On the left side of the brain is where a persons speech is so that is the area where the seizure may be coming from.
The next time this happens tighten up all the muscles in your body and make your hands into tight fists and if you
do it fast enough it will stop the seizures. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

When my wife used to have absence seizures, she never had conscious awareness of them. What you are describing sounds like something else.

Thanks. I will try that to stop them. Interesting feedback that the seizure may simply impacting my speech, but not my consciousness.

I've had this happen a few times & altho I can't speak for a few moments it is terrifying to me. Sometimes I will have a migraine headache after.

My neuro back in the early 1970's taught me about tightening up the muscles in my body to stop the seizure
and I've used it for over 50 yrs. and it has stopped many seizures. Wishing you the best of luck and May God Bless You!
