After things had gone pretty well for a few months... had one of my episodes last night. I had figured out that at least one major trigger was aspartame, and I cut that out completely. So, that seemed to work. But my lamotrigine was switched to a different generic recently; one that doesn't work for sh**, and I've felt really odd ever since the switch, AND haven't been able to get ahold of my provider because she's on vacation. But I also think that maybe messing up my sleep schedule might have played a role in this. Maybe kind of a chain-reaction thing. Slight med change, and the horrible sleep was kinda like last straw for my brain :\
I work 12 hour nightshifts, Wednesday through Friday, plus every other Saturday. This was my long weekend, and basically Saturday after work I just could not sleep for the life of me. Normally I go to bed around 7:30 or 8 AM. I was awake until noon, and woke up around 7 PM. Sunday was even worse, I was awake until 2:30 PM, and woke up at 9:30 PM. Then Monday night I took a nap from about midnight to 5 AM (when bf wakes up to get ready for work)... when I woke up, that's when it happened. And I know I probably shouldn't have done this, but I didn't go back to bed to sleep a little more after he left for work. Instead I went for a jog, and stayed up all day. I'll probably go to bed tomorrow morning (Wednesday) after bf wakes up, and hopefully catch up on sleep. I had plans for the afternoon today, and didn't want to risk oversleeping if I went back to bed. So I did my jog, came home and dorked around online until it was time to get ready to leave. So by the time I go to bed in the morning I'll have been awake for 24 hours... so I suspect it'll happened again either shortly before falling asleep, or shortly after waking up since those are always when they happen.
I dunno, guess I just needed to whine. I was so happy that things had gone so well, then BAM. A rude awakening for both me and my bf. I hate having them, and they also scare the crap out of him because he doesn't know what to do. He hasn't witnessed them often, but when he does it really frightens him.
