Hi everyone,

How are you all? I haven't been online for a while but I wanted to tell you all about how I've just completed my number one bucket list item this week! I went horse riding through the Victorian High Country and it was AMAZING!:woot: For those of you not familiar with Australia, have you seen "The Man From Snowy River"? Well its an older movie that was filmed in the beautiful mountains known as the "High Country". I rode a gorgeous horse called Bramble who was so sweet and honest, and really looked after me. We climbed two mountains and had photos taken on the summit! It took us a day to get up, and a day to get down each one. We camped in our swags and had dinner by the campfire.

Thankfully my body handled the 6-8 hours of riding per each day and I had a wonderful time. The scenery was amazing, and it felt like a big achievement as some of the riding was quite challenging. E.g. half walking, half sliding down the mountains and standing right up in the stirrups for hours at a time as our horses climbed the mountains (this helps them get up the hills and takes the weight off their backs). Of course having such good horses made this seem easy =)

The day I travelled home by coach, then by plane, it started to hit me. I started to get auras and almost took a valium, but managed to hold any seizures off. I think it all catches up with me when I stop! The next day I was absolutely shattered! Today I've had a few tears and I still feel really lethargic and a bit depressed, despite knowing its just tiredness. I guess its to be expected, after a very mentally stimulating week, and some real physical work. Despite popular belief, horse riding takes a lot more work than just "sitting on a horse" as some say lol! I am really pleased that I was able to fulfill one of my lifelong dreams, and if the epilepsy devil has to slow me down for a few days afterwards, that's not a bad trade =). Very glad I had the sense to take a few extra days off work!

Now how do I post some photos? =)

Hi Wobblez!
Your story is amazing; you've been doing a lot of work. Horseback riding is harder than it looks. I used to ride when I was younger- thank goodness the epilepsy devil as you say stayed in the background then for me too. But to climb mountains on horseback is a whole other ball game! I'm glad you had a good horse!
I would love to see pictures! It's good to hear from you.

Welcome back Wobblez! Congrats on checking off a bucket list item. The seizure-y aftermath is no fun I'm sure, but hold tight to those excellent memories in the mountains. You can put pictures in your posts this way: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f26/how-post-picture-forum-758/

You can also create an album by clicking on the "Pictures and Albums" option in the Quick Links tab in the top menu bar.

That is amazing!!!! It must have been so beautiful and you must be so proud...as you should be! Congratulations on taking on life by the horns and conquering it! High five!
It must have totally been worth it even with the after effects.
Can't wait to see the pictures!

wowwowowow :) go girl!!!! Oh so happy for you!

U give inspiration to SO many - understatement!

Go tick that dream list honey! Looking 4ward to your pics..

That sounds so amazing! I can't wait to see your pictures.

I've ridden horses many times but never for more of an hour or 2 and mostly on flat terrain. I'd jump at the chance to do what you did.

What's #2 on your bucket list? :)

Wobblez -
That sounds like an amazing week.
Was where you went near Corryong in Victoria?
I only live a couple of hours from Corryong & it is nice there.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

"The Man from Snowy River" is one of my favorite movies. I love horses.

Hi everyone!

Thank you for your lovely words, I'm still grinning from ear to ear after the experience! I've just started to feel better after 5 or 6 days being home again, but yes, worth every second of feeling and looking drained and tired! Cazzy, you make me laugh! Glad you gave it a go!

CQ I'll have to check the map, I don't know where Corryong is but we were in Merriig, near Mansfield? The mountains were Mt Stirling and Mountain No 3, near Mt Buller. The poor mountain didn't even get a real name!

Bramble and I on the summit of Mount Stirling! As usual, the pics just don't do the view justice but I think my cheesy grin gives you an idea of how good this felt! Bramble was amazing, so honest, reliable and cheeky! Yes, there was a massive drop right next to us. Thankfully I didn't twitch lol!

Bramble and I on the lookout of Mountain No 3. This was cool! We had a lovely campsite about a 1km from this spot. Again, loving this little horse.

Sitting outside Craig's Hut, used in The Man From Snowy River.

Must go and walk my patient puppy now but I'll post some more when I get back. Thanks Nakamova for helping me with these!!!

The pictures look terrific! I'm jealous, especially because it's icy and snowy here...

Oh no! Nakamova is freezing up! Keep moving my friend! How long is it supposed to last?

The weather on my trip was perfect. 25-27 (celcius) at base camp and about 17 and sunny in the mountains! Lovely!

We're about to hit a tiny "warm" spell for a few days, which should help a bit. But this winter is supposed to be extra harsh, and I'm just not in the mood for that.

I've only ridden a horse twice in my life, but your pix are making me consider trying again...

If you find the right horse, you'll feel more comfortable and enjoy it a lot more =)

We've had over 7 days of 40 degrees or more! Our poor world is getting more and more extreme. I wonder if Mother Nature is trying to tell us something!

Your pics are AMAZING, ESP the first one. I'm jealous too. :p
