Hi everyone
Just wndering if i could get some feedback. I have partial complex.seizures and lately i have been dealing with an odd symptom. Every now and then when i wakeup in the morning the lights all seem to be flashing unless i look directly at them. It goes away within the first hour.

My neurologist believes it is epilectic in nature and is having me do a sleep deprived eeg.

Anyone ever had these symptoms or can you tell me about the sleep deprived eeg. Never had one.

Flashing or moving lights an be a symptom of a simple partial seizure, particularly ones that originate in the temporal, parietal or occipital lobes.

When I've had a sleep-deprived EEG, I've stayed up the night before (no caffeine allowed), and then come in for the EEG test first thing in the morning. Sometimes they say you can sleep 3 or 4 hours at night, but no more than that. The main thing is that they want you to be truly fatigued, since sleep deprivation makes it more likely that your brain will produce the kinds of brainwaves that are associated with epilepsy. Your neurologist and/or the EEG department may have more specific instructions, so you should check in with them if you have questions.
