I started eating peanut butter from the jar as a snack several years ago and found out only after doing this for a few years that doing this actually provided Vitamin B and protein to my body.
I had been doing this just because I like the taste!
Has anybody else done something like this?:ponder:

That's interesting...
For about 15 years, I'd eat oatmeal just about everyday for breakfast. I recently found out that I have reactive hypoglycemia. When eating carbs alone (specifically oatmeal), my blood glucose level would drop below normal. Eventually, I started eating peanut butter in the morning and noticed my blood glucose didn't drop and internally it just "felt right". I can't back it up with anything scientific, but it makes me feel good. :)

Sometimes when I crave a specific food I think it may be my body's way of reminding me to get more of a certain nutrient. For instance, most of the time I can take or leave liverwurst, but every now and then I really want it (probably when I am low in iron, Vitamin A, and B12, all of which liverwurst has in large amounts). Or I'll crave bananas when I'm low in potassium.

Hi AC,
I've found eating almonds or lightly salted nuts has reduced my seizures a lot and it has helped me drop a couple of pounds also, I don't know how it works but I'm very pleased.
Wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Sue

I just heard of a study that looked at adding a few Brazil Nuts a day (or even a few per month!) to a well-balanced diet (Mediterranean or similar). The results were very significant in terms of lowering risk for Alzheimers and improving cognitive health. The study authors suspect that the high selenium content of the nuts plays a role in protecting the body and brain from oxidative stress. See http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4147716/ for an overview of selenium and Alzheimers.

Interesting...

I apologize for responding to an old thread but I had to search this because this is interesting.
Although undiagnosed, I have motor episodes and I've been 29 days free (longest since it started, once was 2 weeks free but usually no more than 2 days free) and lately I've changed my eating habits and have been eating 1/4 cup peanuts daily along with other changes. My head however has been hurting everyday for a month so I'm not sure if I'm depleted of certain nutrients so I may have to make some more changes but I do find it interesting, and peanuts taste delicious by the way. Don't let me get my hands on anything that has chocolate and peanut butter combined. :taz:

That many peanuts a day I don't give garden birds that much..
I am getting a lot help taking magnesium my head aches not so bad and virgin coconut oil which tastes like crap but healthy people say it good for me which I sure it is if did not throw each time use it.

StrongerThanEpilepsy,

All sorts of things can cause headaches (fatigue, eyestrain, stress, dehydration...) so pinning down an exact cause may be tough. But it can't hurt to take a close look at your diet & lifestyle to see if there are changes that can be made. Congrats on the decrease in motor seizures!
