Welcome Tiffany Glad you found us. The people here are great & a lot of them seem to be experts in their own specialty which makes this site a great resource. I was born with absence seizures & have also been diagnosed with a learning disability (though nobody can say exactly what it is). I had a hard time in school but eventually discovered my learning styles & techniques and have learned how I understand things better. I had a lot of varying side-effects from anticonvulsants but we finally found one where the side-effects weren't worse than the seizures. Here's the chart of Alternative treatments. Maybe you'll find something to help your daughter http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/...ive-treatments

| Hi Tiffany, welcome to the forum. ![]() My wife completely eliminated her mutiple, daily absence seizures over 10 years ago using EEG neurofeedback. I highly recommend it if you can swing it financially (insurance generally doesn't cover it although I am aware of a few cases where they did). Oh, and for yourself : Insomia (trouble falling asleep)

| Hi Tiffany! I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I have epilepsy and I understand what you mean about your school. I am in 11th grade and my school has actually asked me not to come back to school because my seizures were a distraction to other students and the teachers were having to stop class whenever I would have a seizure (I have complex partials usually but they are usually very small and most of the time not noticable) and get this -they very, very rarely stopped class when I had a seizure. I've been seizure free for over a month and a few weeks (new record) and I still have not had education of any type since then. I also would recommend an alternative treatment. They definately have less side effects. |

Welcome to both you and Tiffany![]() No medical doctors here, but scores of people who have a lot of experience to share. Research the alternative therapies, but don't be afraid of all the meds because a few did not work. I have been lucky and only had two over 26 years. Others here have gone through a dozen before they found the one that worked for them. Also, I hope you have the chance to enjoy some of the humorous forums. Laughing hard can help rid your body of stress and help you sleep. (my own experience) |

| Welcome to CWE Tiffany My daughter has tonic clonic seizures, and they most definitely stop the class. anti-epileptic drug's were not an acceptable choice for us. The side effects have been terrible. We are beginning neurofeedback next week. Also changing my daughters approach to nutrition has made a big difference. If I can count on the fact that she will make good choices when she isn't in my presence. She is beginning to see the connection. |

| Actually, there are a couple, but they don't post very often.
