Frighten - UPDATE ** Saw Neuro - 03/11/08 **

Too scary! I don't know if I had a
seizure or what, but I woke up,
completely confused in a daze.
Felt so frightened, and felt like
running away. I got my clothes
on, and how I did it - I'm not sure,
but I went outside and ran down
the street and it was cold. Then
I felt so lost, it was dark and I'm
so scared that I'm crying!

I forgot which one was my house,
so I walked, shivering in the cold,
and I saw what looked like my
house. I was so confused then
I saw my cat and yes, my house.
I got back inside, so frightened
and have no idea what happened
or why. I cry again. And I want
to sleep but I feel like I'm rising
inside of me, can't explain it.
I hear sounds which makes no
sense, and its hard for me to see,
and the light keeps coming and
going. All of this one thing after
another. So confused, makes no
sense. All jumbled up. Comes
and goes so quickly. Scary!

Brain

Sorry to hear about what happened, it sounds like it would've been a scary thing to go through. I was wondering if you had a seizure aswell.

Was anyone else home at the time when this happened ?

I hope you are feeling better real soon.

Have you ever tried meditating? It might help fight back the panic attack.

Sounds a bit like a simple partial. I had a few like those, fear, confusion, overwhelming need to flee Not a nice one at all!

Back From The Hospital

I am back from the Hospital;
My neurologist and Primary had ordered me
to go to the ER and after having work-up
there, was having episodes there and was
monitored - lab work was revealing the
menses cycle was about to begin; which
I have a problem with and is lined up
with the nocturnal.

They were going to admit me, but instead
I have to call my neurologist tomorrow to see
him. They have enough EEG's & video EEG's and
already know I have seizures and what I
have ~ so I'm not sure if he's going to add
another anti-epileptic drug or increase an anti-epileptic drug.

But I'm instructed to return back if I have
any Tonic-clonic(s) and I will be admitted
immediately and they will go from there.
So both of my Doctors have the reports
from the Hospital so I'm on alert and being
monitored and was allowed to go home.

No it wasn't a panic attack at all - it was a nocturnal
seizure but their concern was if I had a tonic clonic during that
phase; however - because I have also a history of having
back-to-back seizures, they know from my description and
my son's - that I also had a complex partial on top of it. I did go back
to sleep afterwards for a very long time.

And when I woke up, I was still in post-ictal stage - that's
why my neurologist & Primary had me to go to the ER at the
Hospital

Poor little Brain all broken! :(

Hey, Lumpy, how long do your post-ictals last? Are they real bad? With the back-to-back seizing, does that increase the PI duration/confusion?

Arrow Birdy to answer your question ...

To answer your question in regarding
Nocturnal Seizures:

Here's the Epileptologist Report from
a 2006 video EEG:

And below is HOW LONG they LAST, and
plus PAY ATTENTION to HOW MANY I had
and that was JUST ONE NIGHT (this is
just a ONE night report):

Oh wow! I'm so sorry to hear about the seizure. But I'm glad to hear that you were seen at the hospital and that your doctor is on it. I hope you're not alone at home. Take care Brain. I'll be praying for you.

Unhappy I'm so scared and confused

Brain 3/11/08 comment- Reply

I've had something similair been happening to me- my Nuero put me in th hospital ( I just got out) for almost 2 weeks. Lng term EEG. They found all that kind of stuff, plus I was having "episodes" that to the people around me would look like my "normal" gran mal seizures.

Exept towards the end I was kicking ass-literally, beating the shit out of people and things around me. Hurting myself and others without memory, but "waking" uphysterical in tears. My Nuero diagnosed it as Psychogenic nonepileptic seizures.

It's all very new to me, and a little confusing, but it has to do with your mental status, and thing like that. I don't know about you but before my epilepsy I had "mental issues" that I never realy delt with, and then he siad that usually developing epilepsy, causes a whole new set of issues for a person to have to deal with in there life. Sometimes this happens as a way for your mind and body to deal with all that is going on.

He said that most Dr.'s don't relize what's going on unless they do alot of testing, and the seizures, need to be seen otherwise they can be confussed with your grand mal epilepsy, or whatever type of epilepsy you have. He also said that it is a common dosorder, but one that isn't talked about very much, and still has a stigma. I've felt the feelings you described, and I feel for you because I know it is really terrifying.

I don't know if this will mean anything or not, but I was so afraid to share what I had learned, but when I read what you wrote I felt it might be OK to share it.

Arrow Keyna - here's another look for you

Sorry that had happened to you Keyna,
but at least don't let one get you down, it's happened
to many before; keep pressing on. Many women have
been MISDIAGNOSED!! You are not alone!

But with me they had the answers, via
the lab work. They can tell if you had
epileptic seizures now via lab work.

They already have EEG's, ambulatory EEG's, qEEG
(quantum), QEEG's (Quantitative) and
video EEG's (Digital Bipolar Montage; various
types) - history of abnormalities, epilep-
tiform, clinical activities, and it's very
rare for me to have a normal EEG. Been
this way since 1969.

All my Scans are abnormal, been this
way for decades.

They already know what I have, I'm
classified via the State & Federal Gov.

For DECADES ....

Here's an example - I removed my
name except first off for privacy;
but here's a State of Florida Driver's
License Medical Board Report example:

Here is one from 1986 (I removed Dr's name off)

Thanks, they knew I had grand mal eplilepsybecause of all the tests, but my nuroe was openminded enough to relize that something else besides that was going on.

All of it's so scary, yours, mine, everybodys. I wish we could all be healthy, hell I'd take one week being healthy.

as always good luck.

Keyna - Just as I posted:
keep pressing on. Many women have
been MISDIAGNOSED!! You are not alone!

I also want to add .. there's been
NUMEROUS <---- note the caps(!)
of folks out there who have had
video EEG's and not one freaking seizure!

And the moment they head home,
go figure - they get a seizure! That
is not unusual! Sometimes it takes
FOREVER before they ever capture
a seizure on EEG!

Sharon my thoughts are with you take care and listen to your body and the Dr's. I know easier said than done but give it a try How long have you been on the Dilantin its a good med but sometime in it's cycle duration that you are on the med you start to need more has happen with me over thirty years I have gone from 200mg to 530mg without gaining any weight during that time my body changed ever so slightly and I needed to raise the dosage. hope that it id that easyfor you hang in there
