How long have you been on the Dilantin its a good med

Jerry

Thanks Jerry;

Unfortunately Dilantin (Phenytoin),
my baby - is now in the AED Allergic
list ... I have been on it way too long!

::: sulks ::::

Dilantin has wrecked a havoc on
my teeth & gums.

But overall I've been from 900 mg
(300 mg x 3) to 600 mg (200 mg x
3 .... and usually when I'm on
Dilantin 200 mg (200 mg x 2) I am
also on Klonopin 2 mg HS (bedtime);
back in those days.

I've had whacky schedules with
Dilantin as a mono... 400 mg (200
x 2) and 500 mg (200 AM / 300 PM)
alternating days with or without
Klonopin and I have had it with
Depakote, Depakene, Tegretol (not
all at once, but as a cocktail combo)
for a brief time ...
but I know all the AED's
I've had:
Mysoline, Dilantin, Phenobarbital, Klonopin,
Felbatol, Tegretol, Trileptal,
Depakote, Depakene,Valium, Diastat,
Ativan, Keppra, Zonegran, Diamox, and
I can't think what all...

I am currently on:
Zonegran 400 mg B.I.D.
Klonopin .5 mg T.I.D.
Folic Acid 2 mg AM

AED Allergy List:
Phenobarbital, Keppra, Tegretol,
Trileptal, Felbatol, ..... and my poor
baby (((( Dilantin ))))

:(

That's the thing I WAS NOT MISDIAGNOSED!!!! I have had Epilepsy since I was about 7-8 yrs old, and have had MANY a seizure captured on EEG's, and vEEG'S. My point was that I also have other health issues that my Dr. was open to rather than just ignoring.

Sorry if your post was misunderstood,
but you are correct in regards to
other health issues; there are many
people with Epilepsy who have also
other health issues too.

That's why I have a Cardiologist as
well as a Neurologist along with the
Primary (the "Head Honcho" :D who
oversees everything) - and all of them
works together as one big team.

So it's a very good idea to have
Doctors who are finely tuned with
each other in different Specialties.

So that the Right Hand knows what
the Left Hand is doing.

Thank you so much! sorry if i'm a little (lot) cranky, It's just been so hard with this new diagnosis added to all my others, sometimes I feel like my head is going to spin right off my shoulders. It alos doesn't help that I have a lot of ignorant people in my life-my family is great, but people like my Ex are making it so hard to deal with all of this stuff. Agian thanks.
