I love black-eyed peas. The only year we've ever missed, my hubby was admitted into the hospital in the wee hours of January 3rd for 9 days diagnosed with a pleural effusion!

So yea...won't ever miss, ever again!

Yes, but I'm not sure if the tradition extends across the whole country or is just popular in the South.
That's what my Chicago friend said when I asked her. That it might be a southern tradition
