It doesn't hurt to follow up with the school anyway --- let them know you were glad to be considered, and that they should keep you in mind in case the position opens up again. You never know...

I have 3 or 4 other positions that are still pending. The interview I did in early July was for a general para position that is still pending. So something may come up with one of those positions. I'll just have to see what comes about.
