I have SPS with olfactory aura. (the burning smell that also distorts taste)No progression of the E thank goodness and I am having less auras since being on Depakote ER. They are not gone, but significantly less. I can go several days in a row now without one, even 2 or more weeks last month in a row I went. (usually average 15-20/month, and have had 29-30/month in my worse months) Last month I only had 7! Now this month I am already at 6 so therefore, my hopes are getting a little dashed, but it is STILL better than usual. Yesterday I sneezed mid-day and it brought on the aura (a burning smell), after I hadn't had one in 5 days. I have noticed before that a sneeze will trigger an aura, or if I'm sniffly. (I don't have allergies either). Of course, I don't always have this when I sneeze or have some slight nasal congestion, but it has happened enough that I see a correlation. But anytime when I haven't had my SPS event and a sneeze is coming on (or I have sniffles), I'm like great, here we go. But certainly much of the time when I sneeze, I don't go on to have the seizure. But it has happened enough to make me wonder what the correlation is between sneezing, nasal congestion, and simple partial seizure events in the temporal lobe region.
