Hi, I'm in a bit of a bind and my GP is baffled and I need advice.

Ok, obviously I have epilepsy but I also have fibromyalgia, possible ME and curvature of the spine.

The pain I have is agonising and debilitating to the point that I spend great amounts of time in bed or resting and so swollen and in spasm that I can't move and feel like I weigh more than lead and am on fire.

Problem is that before I was diagnosed I was on co-codomol, gabapentin, tramadol and amitryptline for the fibro and I just about coped with the pain enough to be able to function day to day, albeit not well but I worked and looked after myself. Once I was diagnosed I was taken off amitryptline and tramadol because they increase seizure activity. I thought it was ridiculous until it was proven right but the pain I'm left with is hell.

Does anyone have any idea of strong, effective painkillers that won't interact with my meds or seizures? I'd really really appreciate any advice, I just don't know what to do anymore.

Hi, I'm in a bit of a bind and my GP is baffled and I need advice.

Ok, obviously I have epilepsy but I also have fibromyalgia, possible ME and curvature of the spine.

My neurologist takes care of my fractured spine, curvature of the spine, fibromyalgia and Alzheimer's and of course E.

Gabatenin works for headaches and some pain. I am on it. I am also on Typlenol Codeine #3. That works a great deal. Ask your Doctor about it.

Thank you Nakamova, I did find your link helpful. I learned quite a bit.

I am in a great deal of pain. I had a seizure and landed on the back of my head and my back. I had 13 stitches in my head. I fractured the middle of my spine. The pain has been coming and going.

Ruth, I'm so sorry to hear about your seizure and the accompanying injuries. I hope you can get relief from the pain and discomfort. I took Percocet without any problems for short-term pain relief (this was after shoulder surgery). I cut the pill in half and took it at night so that I could sleep.

I was all ready on Tylenol/Codeine # 3 when this happened. It gives me enough pain relief that I can sleep at night. Whenever I am in the hospital, they tell me to let them know when I need one.

Thank you for your concern, you are a good friend.

Know type of pain killer works for me anymore so i GUESS i'M JUST IMMUNE TO PAIN KILLERS.
nothing works at all for me so when I'm in pain that's just to bad. There's nothing that will help me.::agree:

Belinda,

Have you been to a pain management specialist? I highly recommend it. I was sent to one and he referred me to a doctor closer to home. They can do pain shots in the back that will work for several months. One possible side effect is paralyze.

They probably have other alternatives.

I decided not to do it because I do have other alternatives and I did not like that one rare side effect.

I know exactly what you are going through EmilyRose. I was the one who started the thread about pain meds.

If you can name the pain med I was probably on it for the migraines that I'd get after seizures and pain that I was getting in my back.

The only thing that helped with my back was surgery, I had two severely herniated discs.

As far as the migraines go I still haven't found anything. I just put a bag of ice on my head where the pain is and black out any light. The migraine will last for an hour or longer.

If you find anything that works for you let me know.

Thanks all of you, I really appreciate your input. My appointment with the consultant turned out to be a waste of time because the MSK clinic now only treats skeletal issues and not muscular. The dr x-ray'd my spine and was dismissive saying the curvature wasn't severe enough to qualify for his care. It was such a waste of time, energy and money to get there and back. I feel a bit defeated at the moment, very much hope my GP can be of more use when I see her next.
