Never noticed before...!

I never realized so many people I come in contact with on a regular basis have Epilepsy or a love one with Epilepsy until my son was diagnosed. They never said anything until they found out about Luke. I guess they figured I wouldn't judge them since my son has it.

My cousin has had E since she was 4 (She is now 21). I only knew of two other people with it. But since all this with Luke countless friends and clients have shared their stories. I just think it is so amazing that this many people are affected yet it is still so misunderstood by many!

I accompanied my cousin on a ER visit about a month ago following a break through Tonic Clonic (she feel and hit her head) Just in that visit alone the EMT's brother has it, The PCT has it and the attending Doctors Mother has it. In just one room there were 5 people who had some type of connection to it!

A woman I worked with for over a year just told me she has it. It just eerks me to know that people have to hide it due to the ignorance of other people! Has anyone else noticed this too or is it just me. Maybe I was just stuck in my own little world before all this and just never noticed.

If the average is one in six people have a mental disorder.
Think of the staff of your favorite tv show.
At least one of those people have epilepsy, alzheimers, or worse.

Last May when I suffered a burn on my hand due to a seizure while cooking, the burn specialist at the hospital told me he had 5 other patients in the hospital suffering from burns due to an accident from a seizure. And my epileptoligist's daughter has epilepsy.
I think that is why she has much more insight that some of the other docs I've had.
