My 12 year old daughter recently had a status seizure and at that time had her first grand mals. She was put on keppra which was added to the lamotrigine she already takes. She was seizure free for over a month but yesterday she had two abscence seizures and another one this morning. After these seizures she was exhausted. This has never happened before. Normally her abscence seizures have no effects. Could these be a different type of seizure? Could she be gearing up for another tonic clonic?

How long did the absence seizures last? If they were longer than a few seconds, they may be complex partial seizures instead, which can take a bit more of a toll.

How is she doing in general? Has she been affected by any side effects of the keppra or lamotrigine?

They were not long but today's seizure she was much dizzier than usual. Keppra has caused some serious mood swings but her neurologist doesn't want to take her off of it because it has really worked for her seizures. She sleeps so much better at night. I guess I am just concerned that she may have more tonic clonic. The fatigue is a concern of mine. It may be summer now but if a simple abscence seizure makes her this tired how will she get through school?
