Hi ppl I had my 24 hour EEG and it came back normal like all the other tests, and I'm still having seizures , when having the EEG I didn't have one , but I also have been speaking to ppl who have had the same problem as me , if anybody has any useful advise to help , please fill free to comment and help me thanks

I have had that happen to me too. I also have a friend who has been seizure free for many years, but when she had her last EEG a year or so ago, it showed lots of spikes for her. Go figure!
How often do you have seizures? Do you know what, if anything, triggers them for you? What does your doctor say about what he/she wants to do next? Perhaps you could see if your doctor would like you to have another 24 hour EEG, and if so, ask him/her if they would like you to do anything that could provoke one. For example, if lack of sleep is a trigger for you, ask them if they want you to deprive yourself of some sleep prior to the test. Another thing I would ask is if they think you need to be admitted for a few days to have 24 Hour Video EEG Monitoring. Or, maybe you don't need to be admitted at all. Maybe you could ask if you should have another ambulatory EEG, but if it should be arranged for 48-72 hours. Perhaps just 24 hours wasn't enough to capture a seizure, but if they can study you for several days maybe they will be able to get a better chance of recording seizure activity.

I had this done a few years ago and it really helped my doctors see what type of seizures I have and what type of medicine would be best. The interesting thing is that my doctor said they only caught a few of them (I had TONS of partials while I was there), so I asked her why and she said that some seizures are too deep within the brain to be detected. But the 5 days gave a good opportunity to catch some. They might not have if It was only 24 hours.

Thanks yh a lot have people have sed dat , as there going throw the same thing as me , I go back in oct to see dr and I went hospital Monday from having a seizure and der gonna write to my dr

Hi Nat -- what kind of seizures are you having? It's not unusual for simple partial seizures to go missing when you have a standard EEG, or to not register even if you are having them. Your neuro should be able to make a diagnosis based on your symptoms alone, without a confirming EEG. if the doc isn't able to do this, you may need one with more experience.

Hey, I've have all body shaking seizures , and wen I go back I'm gonna say as it's been over a year and a half now and still not on tablets , and if nofink is sorted wen I next go I'm gonna ask to see someone else , I'm having to go hospital quite a lot because of my seizure I have a lot , thanks for reply to me :)

I have grand mild seizures as someone I know is a expert in all this si sent her a video of me having a seizure as my partner done it , den I sent it to her and she told me a lot, wats it looks like and I also showed my dr but he didn't do nofink bout it

When I was young never had an EEG show anything until I went status and was I'm hospital for a fortnight and rigged up like a Yule tree. They caught loads then, couldn't figure why I went status either ... But 9 months later had a baby so that cleared up that mystery.

I was given the same explanations sometimes seizure activity is so deep it won't show on an EEG and that sometimes it'll only show when your actively having a seizure.

My latest round I was told my EEG was totally normal for someone with myclonic seizures so I assume that showed something sparking when I jerked?
