I have currently been researching holistic methods to help with Epilepsy. I feel as though I was diagnosed with Juvenile Epilepsy but I am too nervous to not take my medication. It seems like my medication only makes me tired. I was considering taking myself off medication completely because I don't think my doctor would want me to... before I go see my neurologist, I was wondering if anybody had advice on this particular topic....

HI Missykaylee,

Welcome to CWE.
I'm sorry I can't help you with your research into holistic methods but I'm sure other members will pass through with some good advice.

In regards to your medication it is not a good idea to go of your medication by yourself. I suggest that you speak to your neurologist about how the medications are affecting you & see if the 2 of you can work out a way to slowly take you off your medications.

I don't think any of us like being on medications & I'm sure that at some stage we have all wanted to just go of our meds because the side effects were too much but we still have to be careful when we do go of our meds because if we reduce the meds too quickly (eg-going 'cold turkey') we have more chance of having seizures.

Hi misskaylee, welcome to the forum. :hello:

As CQ said - talk to your neuro/doc about the problems you are having with the med and work out a schedule for weaning off or replacing them.

As far as "holistic" methods, see the link in my signature for "proactive" care ideas.
