Hi everyone! I'm a mom of a beautiful baby boy, almost 1yr old! I was seizure free for fifteen yrs. When I was about 6 mo's. pregnant, I experienced an aura. I panicked and was afraid my baby would have seizures. Fortunately, that has not been the case. However, my seizures are back  Mine are described as tonic-clonic seizures.

First of all welcome to the site,im sure you will enjoy yourself here.It must be terrible for you with your seizures returning after so long.
I also suffer from tonic clonic,im sure you will find a lot of the answers you seek on this forum, welcome again and take care!!!!

Hi orchids0725, welcome to CWE!

Your breakthrough seizures might have been triggered by the higher estrogen levels that occur during pregnancy. Were you on meds at the time? Are you still on them now?

Best,
Nakamova

Hello Nakamova,

I had a healthy pregnancy. No meds other than the prenatal vitamins. After I had the tonic clonic seizure four months after giving birth, I started taking Keppra. Now I'm on Vimpat weaning to Lamictal. My doctor ruled out any hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy. Now I'm scheduled for a VEEG in April. Hopefully I will get a better idea of what's causing them.

Regards,
Diana

Hi, Orchids,

Welcome to the forum!

I'm so sorry your seizures are back. I'm curious - how did your doc rule out hormones?

Your baby will be fine. Genetic (inherited) epilepsy is pretty rare. :)

The CWE forum is a great place - people with lots of information, and support!

With me stress is a real seizure trigger, I don't know if that's the same for you too.

I'm sure going through pregnancy and having a little baby in the house could be a stressful thing. I know it would be for me at least.

Welcome to the site! First, congratulations on your new son! When you get a chance you will have to post a picture of him so we can see how adorable he is :) Try to relax if you can. Do what you have been doing, and let us know how your video eeg goes. All the best :hello:
