Hey all.

I am new here... Hope you can help me. We have a 13 year old foster boy in the family. We all have some part in his life.

For some time he will wet his bed. But it will only happen after he play more than a hour on his play-station. He also have a big problem with concentration. He also get very frustrated that can turn into anger. He was diagnose with attention deficit disorder.

I have been reading about nocturnal epilepsy?

What do you think?

Hello pinky....

Welcome to CWE…
Anyone witnessed a seizure? Does he sleep alone? Bed wetting would not equal epilepsy. Could it be stress related or maybe so relaxed when playing he forget to get up and go to toilet?

Something could be lacking in nutrition (not even from today but from when he was baby)... Would you have opportunity to get his vitamin and minerals levels checked?

Hi pinky76, welcome to CWE!

Bedwetting can multiple causes (physical, emotional, and/or neurological), so his doctor would be the best place to start. The concentration issues might or might not be related. Either way, make sure he's getting plenty of sleep, and going to bathroom regularly.

Hi,

Chaz1, No fits during the day. He is sleeping alone.

We have strict times for stopping drinking and always make sure he go to the toilet. But this doesn't happen every night.

It 90% if he play more than a hour play-station. (We got time limit on games now)
and when he is watching tv for to long.

Why I wonder is. We were on vacation some time ago. He went to bed late. Drink more than normal. But no play-station. Not once that week, he wet his bed.

First day back, he played his game (mostly cars) he wet his bed.

I also read that most people with nocturnal epilepsy can have no fits during the day and some doesn't even know they have nocturnal epilepsy? If that is true, well you will know better.

Thanks for your fast reply.

Hello pinky,

"I also read that most people with nocturnal epilepsy can have no fits during the day and some doesn't even know they have nocturnal epilepsy?"

Yes for sure this is possible, but usually there will be more than bedwetting, though bedwetting can be a neurological condition....does not mean it Epilepsy. My Son has nocturnal seizures, but has never lost bladder control. Normally he has a tongue bite (if heavy one) and always muscle pains.

Fluid intake changes may help solve but you mention, back to gaming and same pattern is appearing. Bedwetting is really more common than we might think, and more often than not goes away on its own, But I would recommend a visit to a doctor to review further if it continues and if no physical/emotional reason (pray it’s not seizures) is found there are many things that can help minimize the stress of it all, special sheets etc and my thought is – its important is to let him know that its understood its not intentional.. At 13, he can probably do a quick clean up before anyone knows its happened…

Hi Chaz1,

Thank you very very much. I do pay it's not seizures. We don't blame him for anything, so he know he can talk to us. He still visit his mom and he tell us everything. With her drug pass, we have to make sure he understand what happen and that we are always there for him.
