Sorry this might be long.Ok I just joined this forum,figured it couldn't hurt.I just turned 21 in April,and I think i had my first of maybe four or five "seizures" when I was 18.But money for the MRI I need is an issue,especially having no kind of insurance.Back to the topic though.The first one,my girlfriend was staying with me,and she said that I randomly just sat up,then I had the episode.Supposedly when the EMS got here to take me to the hospital I was freaking out,yelling at everyone,or something of that nature,lol...I blacked out for the whole thing all I remember is waking up in a hospital bed,with all of my body limbs really sore,fun fun.The second one,I borrowed my brother's mustang to take my girlfriend to work,I think this was about 2 months later.We got maybe a quarter mile up my street,and my mouth started to like shake in a weird way,in which I couldn't control.Less than a minute after that happened,my gf was asking me what I was doing,but I couldn't answer,and that's when I blacked out again.Besides that,all I could remember during the episode was feeling a big thump.I woke up in the back of ambulance a little beat up and a couple of scratches,nothing major.I went and seen a neurologist after that.I know no one wants to hear this,but it could be a big deal.Anyway,he told me it was because of marijuana for sure,and took my off my medicine.I think it was a month later,I was on the computer playing a game,and the next thing I know I woke up in my bed with a broken nose,and my limbs sore again,so obviously it was another episode.But the other ones I'm not 100% sure I had one,I just woke up with my legs sore with the same feeling as after having one.So basically I want to find out if anyone has had similar to what happened to me.Please help....

No one shares the exact symptoms as we are all different. However, I have read similar stories to yours, and it sounds like you have abnormal brain functioning occuring.... and it appears to be some kind of seizure activity.

MRIs are a useful tool, but not necessary unless you have some kind of growth / tumor etc. Have you ever had a CT scan (otherwise known as a cat scan)?

Any use of drugs, or food additives, or alcohol, can sometimes cause seizure reaction in some people. Since you have had more than one, your seizure threshold is lowered for some reason. The doctor might be correct in his diagnosis that the mj may be the reason. However, it might only be part of the cause.

For my daughter it has been an improvement to make changes in her nutritional choices. Our current American diet, is far from adequate for brain health. There are a lot of ways you can be proactive in your care. But without making any changes, medication or otherwise, you most likely will continue having these sorts of episodes.

Welcome! I'm so sorry you are going through this. Seizures can be really scary.

It's not unusual for seizures to get worse over time. Some people's seizures go away (not common) or stay the same. If they go untreated and continue over the long run they can cause permanent changes in your brain and become even harder to treat.

If you are having seizures with loss of consciousness you may not want to drive until they are under control. You could get really hurt, or hurt or kill other people. I understand not having insurance. That is so hard. Did they do eeg's or an MRI when you were in the hospital? If so, I'm betting they called in a neurologist to decide what to do with the results. Your best bet for treatment is to go to the emergency room at a public hospital when you have a seizure. They will run the tests and probably bring in a neurologist. You will get proper treatment when you are there, at least. Tell the doc you don't have insurance, and he may make the prescription last for more than a week. Another option is your local free clinic. Many communities have one. They may not have a neurologist, but a really good primary care physician may be able to handle treating your seizures.

Well sorry I actually forgot to mention.After I saw the first Neurologist,and he took me off the medicine.I quit smoking and it was about a month later when another one happened.Also,now I'm going to my regular neurologist,and he told me that there has never been a case in which weed has caused seizures.

The main thing I want to know is why I haven't had an episode in probably over a year,but ever since I had the one on the computer,and broke my nose I always get really lightheaded,really easy.Not to mention I just get a sick feeling in my stomach,and it always leads to me getting paranoid and thinking I'm going to have an episode.
