I have had epilepsy for 31 years. I am 49 now. 18 years ago, I had brain surgery at the NIH in Bethesda, Md. My seizures are more frequent, and I am on 3 medications. One is making me toxic, so between my seizures and the affects of my medication, I am functioning slowly, and staying close to home. Anyone know of a treatment in Fla. after surgery has already been done? I have complex/partial seizures. In the past I have run a successful business, and kept my head above water. I am aging now, and losing control of my independence. Got any good suggestions??? Please respond!
Thanks,

Stacey

Hi Stacey, welcome to the forum. :hello:

There are several options listed in the chart linked in my signature below. Check out the diets, neurobehavioral therapy and EEG neurofeedback. :twocents:

Hi Stacy and Welcome! :)

Please take a close look at Mr. B's chart...he has some good information posted.

It is so difficult to cope when you feel you've "run out of options." You are not alone though.

My best advice (and only advice) is to educate yourself, and take a stand in your healthcare. Be your own advocate and be proactive. After thousands and thousands of seizures with no end in sight, this is how I survive. :e:

Many (((hugs))) and please frequent this site for support and to offer support through your own knowledge and experience. We can lean on each other. :agree:

Hi Stacey,

I, too, had brain surgery 18 years ago, but in Memphis, TN. Then, I started having tonic/clonic seizures along with CP's 14 months after surgery. So my epileptologist tried me on many different meds, all to no avail. I was on 3 AEDs, so I know how difficult it is to function. I finally had the VNS, and have had some success with it, although it isn't a cure all.
As stated by Bernard & Julie, check out the charts. Hopefully, you will find something that works.

Let us know how you're doing.

Cindy
