Hi, I am new to this forum and am hoping to find help from others who've had breakout seizures. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in adulthood and was stable on my medication until two months ago when I began to experience Complex-Partial breakout seizures lasting from 15-30 minutes. My medicine has now been changed to Lyrica and Zonegran, but I still have morning seizures, though not usually severe, until today. I was in Menards when I began feeling light headed and I knew I was having a light seizure. By the time my husband got back to me, I could barely talk or walk, and in the car had a bad seizure where my head and body jerked, I couldn't talk or move for 20-30 minutes. I am unable to work or drive due to the seizures with lightheadness and hazzy memory. I notice that the seizures seem to happen a couple of hours after I wake up (it doesn't matter whether I have taken my meds or not) and I seem to feel better as the day goes on. I also seem to feel fine in the morning before the seizure. Has anyone had anything like this. I appreciate any help I can get. Thank You.

I don't get complex partials myself, so I'll let others chime in, but I wanted to welcome you and encourage you to explore the archives and different forums.

I hope you are feeling better since this morning's seizure. Will you be checking with your neurologist to let him/her know what happened?

Thank you for your response. I will call my neurologist tomorrow. Usually when I have a breakout seizure, they aren't as severe as this morning. I have been so tired all day and I feel so bad for putting my husband and mom through the stress of the seizure while at Menards. I guess that one of my greatest concerns is that there will be damage to my brain with the long seizures. The other major concern is how it effects my husband, it makes him so very stressed, that I then worry for his health.
 
Any chance the Zonegran and Lyrica might need to be adjusted? It's only been two months since you switched, right?
 
I have been on Zonegran for years and the Lyrica about two months. I started the breakout seizures out of the clear blue when things seemed to be going well, with no signs of the epilepsy showing itself. All of a sudden I had a major seizure while on Zonegran and Neurontin. My neurologist has adjusted the Zonegran, added Lyrica, and taken me off Neurontin, but the breakout seizures remain daily, though not all of them are severe. I'm just tired of my life revolving around the epilepsy and the chance of a seizure. The stress from this has taken a toll on my husband, he suffered two TIAs, without damage, but I feel guilty for the TIAs. I just need to know that things will get better.
