I was taking Keppra for a Gran Mal seizure and had what I assumed were daily auras. The best way to describe them is like a reset on a computer when the screen goes blank and reboots. I am back on Dilantin with only an occasional flash. Thanks.

Their different for everyone. Sometimes they can take a millisecond and others may last longer. If it was irregular, that may be exactly what it was. The fact that you relate the word, "flash" to it, makes me think of "shock", which is what others including myself experience. Kind of like someone gave you a light smack on the back of the head.

(it was hard to find an animated GIF that wasn't too flashy. :)

I have comlex-partial seizure and I don't think I have auras, unless they are so suttle I don't realize it. Does anyone have something that might be an aura?

I have auras somewhat frequently. Most off the time when my seizure is on its way, I now 2-5 minutes in advance. What I have been told the aura is, is that which I feel when the seizure is just starting, give it a minute or two of starting time (can feel it in my head), and then it is just short of the seizure fully starting. I get this a few times each week just as my complex partial, or semi partial... The grand mal's, they don't play with aura that I know of, as when one of these have hit, I never know of the actual seizure time - thank goodness in near 20 years I only know of four grand mal's and that is certainly 4 too many for me.

DH47, I know what you are talking about in your description of the aura"a reset on a computer when the screen goes blank and reboots." That is totally how I see them... When the seizures hit, it is like my PC shutting down, erasing that which I was doing when it started :ponder:

I get them a lot, always have. To me, all of a sudden it's like I'm watching me on TV, like life is happening in 3rd person. I can still have a conversation but I have to focus really hard. It's like I'm really weirded out. Sometimes it leads to a partial, sometimes it can last the bulk of the day with no seizure. When the grand mal hit, no aura happened, it just took me out. I also get deja vu, a lot!

I get deja vu a lot too sometimes right before a seizure I described my auras as being deja vu like!! Glad to hear its NOT just me feeling like that!

My auras start with a rushing feeling-like if I'm walking it feels like I'm running,if I'm brushing my teeth it feels like I'm scrubbing them.I also hear a man talking/sometimes singing, but I can never understand what he is saying.Im also totally overcome by fear.I hate them!!!!!!

Deja-vu is probably he most common aura I hear of.

Kristy, that's differen. Hearing a man? Do you literally hear it or is it more like an unstoppable voice in your head? Because I've had those.

I have simple complex now. My seizures effect all my senses. Almost like being shoved into a pool suddenly. I get a icy chill, hold my breathe, muffled hearing and blurred vision. I'm fully conchies and feels like I'm trying to "surface" 30 sec or so.
Oddly the only time I had auras was when I was pregnant. I had a sense something was off and my hands would get tingly. Now I don't have any. :l

Hi,N Sperlo it's not like I feel like he's in the house yelling out to me so yeah I think he's in my head talking to me and he just goes on and on talking so fast but I can't understand any of it and there's are real fear that I get from him.like he scares me so much that he's made me cry many times.weird that you can hate someone that doesn't exist????
I do get Deja vu as well but the rushing and the man are my main things.

thankfully the man hasn't been around for awhile - thanks to adding epilim to topamax!!!! :)
