My birthday was Saturday, and today I got my present from Hubbyman. Chocolates and Coca-Cola, The Princess Bride anniversary edition, a coffee gift card and a new mug, and my favorite part--300 sheets of origami paper. Yes! No more quartering squares to conserve folding paper. I am so psyched! Just in time for my VEEG too. =D :woot:

good for you, we want pictures.

several people on the site do origami to

Happy Birthday Josie.
It's great to hear that you had a good day & got spoilt :)

Happy (late) birthday! Enjoy the coffee and the rest of it. You forgot to mention how old you are! (I'm SURE that was just an oversight, right?) :)

Happy belated! I have a bunch of extra origami paper from a work-related project --maybe I'll quickly construct a birthday cake for you...

Here you go...

Ha! Nice! Did you seriously just make that?? That is totally awesome! It looks tricky to make. I'm still a beginner, I've only been folding for a couple of months. The hardest things I've made with moderate success are the Cliff Swallow and T-Rex from "The Joy of Origami" by Margaret Van Sicklen.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys! (LOL, Arnie, I'm 32.) =)

No, I'm just a beginner too -- cranes and butterflies are about my speed. :)

one of my favorite things to make. i have one on my desk collecting dust.

Nak, hahaha! Hooray for cranes and butterflies!

Court, that thing is awesome!

What a cool bday gift! I can make a decent paper airplane but that's about it. :p

Happy belated Josie. :D

I am so impressed with everybody! I wish I could at least make a paper airplane, but alas, the best I can do is the "crumpled ball" pattern :)

The Princess Bride anniversary edition:

Happy belated birthday! Classic movie. I use to always watch this when I was home sick from school... which seems appropriate given the movies premise.

Here are some mini origami pieces that I made. The snail is my favorite. It's meant to be made with a dollar bill, and the dimensions of my paper weren't exact, so it's supposed to have a longer tail. But it still turned out cool. Technically it's Kirigami, because I had to cut a slit to make the antennae.

The box is one I learned to make as a kid. We called it a Spanish Box, but online I've seen it referred to as the Pleated Box.

The T-Rex is one of the harder pieces I've learned, but rewarding to make because the results are fun.

The boat is probably my favorite pattern. It's the Ship Of 1000 Cranes. I *think* it's a traditional pattern? Not sure.

Oh, and Jack Vance is my favorite author, so I thought it it made a cool backdrop.

They are great Josie,
Is the origami dinosaur in your avatar pic one of your pieces of work?
