My husband and I have been wondering and discussing brain development and seizures. My ex husband had his first seizure when he was 15, our son had his first seizure when he was 15, he is now 18. Our daughter had her first seizure at 15. Just coincidence or is there something that happens in our bodies around that age in brain development that can trigger the onset of seizures. Both my ex husband and my son have to take medication to control their seizures without them, they are sure to have one. Has anybody come across any studies or articles about this?

As my sister was doing a biology /science course, she had access to journals I didn't, so she looked up a lump I was born with and found that it ususally causes seizures in the second half of the second decade of life - ie age 15 or above. Mine were at age sixteen however.

Metabolism and hormones can play a big role in epilepsy. Since those are changing dramatically in the teen years (along with psychologic, and social stressors) they can play a triggering role, often in combination with a genetic susceptibility.
