Can anyone out there tell me if they have been taking the natural remedy by Native Remedies called EpiStill?

My 7 year old son suffered from a focal seizure about a month ago. He had been wetting the bed constantly for the month prior to having the seizure, which was unusual. he has also been diagnosed with a learning disability and has an IEP. They have had concerns about his memory.

I was told after he had the first EEG that he had a focal seizure disorder and that the only way to cure it would be to take Lamictal or Keppra for 2 plus years to retrain the brain. I started to interview parents who had done this and got the feeling that they were mostly disatisfied and still living with seizures. Also my neurologist warned me that it might take more than 2 years and that she would decide when to take him off. I realized that once I agreed to put him on, it would be very tough to stop.

I decided instead to try EpiStill. We did it for one month so far and went for a 24 hr EEG and had a completely normal reading.

Can anyone tell me if they took EpiStill and whether it wears off after time? I also would like to know if it was supervised or whether other parents chose to treate with out the assistance of a Dr. I have yet to find a Dr in NYC who will acknowledge EpiStill or assist me with this. Can anyone recommend a pediatric neurologist who treats children using EpiStill?

Hi Epomerance, welcome!

I gave your post its own thread in The Foyer so folks can see it. Below is a link to a thread about EpiStill in the CWE archives:

It's unlikely that you will find a pediatrician who uses it since it is untested by the FDA. I would advise caution -- just because it says it is "natural", doesn't guarantee that it is safe, or effective. If you are considering taking this, consult your doctor first.

I edited your post so that the auto-fill won't cause the typo... :)

Thank you. It did it again. Why is it that you can not write Epi Still without it filling it in?

Just write EpiStill without a space between the wors. Otherwise e p i (without spaces) will automatically autofill as epileptologist. Similarly if you write s p (without spaces) it will become Simple Partial.
