Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place. I've been concerned about something I've been experiencing something that I've been a bit concerned about for a while now. I frequently get tingling sensations that feels like it wraps around my head, lasting usually 5-10 seconds. At times in conversations, I have a hard time getting words out, almost like I'm slurring my speech. Also, trouble concentrating, especially when trying to read, and a sense of deja vu a lot. I was reading about simple partial seizures and I was curious if anyone could tell me if these could be caused by it. They don't always occur together. Originally, I just noticed the tingling sensation and thought it was odd, but now I get them more often, they're stronger, and they encompass a wider area. They started with the back of my head, but now they'll wrap around the sides and the top. I don't currently have insurance and would greatly appreciate help! Thanks!

Hi william, welcome!

Simple partial seizures can take a lot of different forms, including the things you mention: deja vu, tingling, and cognitive or verbal confusion. For some people these can also be migraine symptoms. See . The two disorders are closely related.

You can read more about all the different forms of simple partial seizures here: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_simplepartial You may want to see if any of the other symptoms are ones you've experienced.

If your symptoms seem to be escalating in frequency, duration, or kind, it's important to see a doctor about getting them under control. You should keep a symptom diary, where you track your symptoms. If you can't see a doctor (or even if you can), the diary can help identify triggers to avoid. Triggers can be things like fatigue, illness/infection, food sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies, low blood sugar, dehydration, flashing or fluorescent lights, emotional stress, etc.

You might consider adding an over-the-counter magnesium supplement to your diet. Other vitamins that can potentially be beneficial are B-Complex and Omega3s.

best,
Nakamova

Thanks for the advise, I do actually get migraines, however I've gotten them since I was a kid and only thought that migraine meant frequent headaches. My mom and grandmother do too, so I didn't think anything of it, but I'm reading on it now and well you have greatly satiated my concerns! I never knew about all these other things that migraines cause. My current job is only part time, so they don't give the option for insurance until you've been their a while, but that should be coming up soon and I plan on seeing a doctor as soon as I can, but thanks for the help! And also thanks for that video, that does really seem like what happens to me, although mine usually aren't that bad. However the way she talks does sound similar. Again, thanks!
