Our Daughter just turned 8.She has all three types of seiaures.She has been on trileptle since 1 year of age. She was not well controlled on it and then she was in the FDA trial for Keppra at about 2 years of age.
She has been having strange episodes she appears to be having very long petite.The last one she went to school fine but by the time she got there she took 5 min to get to her spot and had to be prompted and lead. She continued like this in the classroom and play practice. They took her to the office and called me. she laid on the cot in the office and before I got there she snapped out of it . I took her home and she was very aggitated and then had a partical complex slept an hour and then off and running.

The Dr who did the EMU study thinks that she was being noncomplient. She is not a passive child. While we were in the hospital they took her off the Keppra. They are comparing the EEG to the old EEG.

Any thoughts insight ect

We have quite a few parents as members of CWE, so I expect that they will be helpful. You can check out "The Nursery" forum for some of their stories and advice.

Is your daughter on any meds now? Did they have her stop the Keppra cold turkey? How long has she been off the Keppra? Are her doctors proposing a different med? In general, transitions both on and off the meds can lead to an increase in symptoms as the brain and body adjust. As to the "noncompliance" -- you know your daughter, and if you disagree with the doctor's assessment don't be afraid to speak up.

Some CWE members have found that food sensitivity plays a role in their seizures, and that certin diets (like gluten-free) help with seizure control. Don't know if that's a possibility for your daughter, but you can read about it here as well.

daughter off keppra

She did go cold turkey but she was in the Hospital attacked to an EEG. We have been free of everything. She has a right frontal lobe malformation and s 3cm lesion on on the left side. She also has CP, pragmatic language delay and SID.
We are on pins and needles now.She woke at 3am yesterday(fri) and we went to the DR and she has the flu. She had the flu shot.
 
An infection or fever can lower seizure threshold, so I hope she gets over the flu quickly!
