Hello everyone!

Well ever since I was in the 4th grade I've always had a problem with the evil déja vu. As a kid I never really told anyone about it because really how do you explain to people "hey this all has happened before!" and in fact it wasn't until my first grand a few years back that I even brought it up. It had calmed down a lot since I was a kid but still occasionally happened and it was usually at night. Of course the déja vu always came with a sick to my stomach feeling but it was always gone by morning.
Well I still mainly have issues at night and that's because we found out that I have nocturnal seizures and I was lucky enough to find this out after a simple nap. My BEAUTIFUL wife is my watchdog at night and she often catches my issues early on before they become grand, which I'm always grateful for. :)
I guess I'm hear now because I've had an increase in my partials (she calls them mini's) and last night I managed to have one while I was sitting on the couch, seems like I feel asleep for a second and bamm.
Overall the issue doesn't bother me tons, especially when I know what it could be, but the memory loss is just AWFUL and that's the issue I'd like to put a stop to before I'm 55 and don't remember anyone around me. Exaggeration of course but you get my point. Best of health wishes to everyone and hopefully our brains shape up. ;)

Hi slobbering at night,

Welcome to CWE! I have the jamuis vu right before a absence or complex partial seizure, then back in the 1970's my neuro told me that the moment I start to get a nervous feeling in my stomach or get any warning of the jamuis vu starting to tighten up all the muscles in my body and make my hands into tight fists and if I did it quick enough it stopped the seizure. It has worked great for over 40 yrs.
I started having myoclonic seizures a few yrs. ago always having seizures when I went to bed or a little while after I woke up. My neuro did a sleep study on me and found I was having seizures in my sleep. I f you haven't had a sleep study along with an e.e.g. and e.k.g. done at the same time you may want to look into this because you may be having seizures in your sleep and possibly have a sleep disorder that's causing the problem.
Once I started vimpat the myoclonic seizures stopped and it has worked great for yrs.
In regards to memory my short term memory has gotten terrible over the yrs. and a lot of that is do to the meds I take along with the brain surgery I had. I am 54 and I've had seizures since I was 10 so I can understand how you feel. One thing I started last spring was the medical marijuana and that reduced my seizures the most ever so I'm going to continue to use that.
Here's wishing you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

Greetings slobbering at night,
Was glad to hear you have your wife for nocturnal seizures, that use be a good plus. So sorry to hear about your memory loss; me, I like to feel I have learned to live with memory loss and most of the time all is ok, yet there are things that happen making memory problems upsetting. Have you tried living with memory positives live a notebook, or a cellphone notes? I mostly use notes, but there are several people here that know links and/or apps that they find very positive... just couple ideas. Best wishes for you, and again, welcome. :)

Hello Porkette and cadsgj, and thanks for your suggestions.
I really like your idea Porkette and I will be trying that 100%. In the past I've tried to get my brain to refocus and guess what's going to happen next, so I don't get even more sick to my stomach, but that usually doesn't work. I guess that thing is just smarter than me. LOL I really didn't like that one last night because I've never fallen asleep like that so quickly and had that happen. My wife kept telling me to go get my meds and I guess that will learn me.
As for the sleep studies we haven't gone there yet but maybe it's because my neuro knows that my seizures only happen when I'm sleeping. The did one of those fancy light test a couple of months ago and it was all negative, which I guess is a great thing.

And thank you cadsgj for your suggestion. I've slowly been getting better at doing those kinds of things when I remember but sometimes that remembering can be hard. I like my job (I'm a realtor) but sadly it calls for a lot of memory stuff. My wife has a AWESOME steel trap and she seems to have plenty of space up there so I spend a lot of time telling her things and she usually does a great job of remembering them. LUCKY ME! :)
I feel for both of you and wish you the very very best. It can be kind of scary when our brains are being mean to us. :(
