(I've just realized this forum is for people, not dogs - though it came up in my search for dogs because of your name and photos - so if this is not appropriate, please just ignore it...) And I have no idea on which thread to start posting.... This whole experience and all the research I'm doing tells me, though, that this works somewhat the same in humans - and as I have Hashimoto's and another auto-immune disease, I'm fascinated by endocrinology...

My dog was seeming very ill, increasingly so, nothing found on blood tests, then, I found her in seizure for the first time (perhaps it had happened before and was not seen by anyone). A week later she went blind, and I knew it was SARDS and began treatment with Dr. Plechner, who's made SARDS and adrenal exhaustion/Plechner Syndrome his life work (and he's now in practice around the corner from me). The moment he gave her a depo-medrol injection, she felt better, her vision returned within 24 hours, and when her blood tests came back it was obvious: high, aberrant not-real cortisol, high estrogen, low t3 and t4, low immune function across the board. We started thyro-tabs. She seemed like her normal self, then started seizing. 4 times in 2 days - out of nowhere. I thought it was linked to the thyroid meds - could there be an allergy there? or her not absorbing oral medrol (so we went back to injection)? Dr. thinks she might be responding allergically to food (raw chicken - Halshan's brand) - and ALL she wants to do is eat. Also reading that drinking too much water can wash away the sodium... or low blood sugar can cause the seizure - and trying to figure out how to fix that for a dog....Thanks, Rori

Hi Rori --

I gave your post its own thread. As you've realized, this forum is primarily about people with epilepsy, not dogs. But you might find it helpful to visit the website of one of our members who focuses on epilepsy in pets: DogtorJ, http://dogtorj.com/

Best,
Nakamova
