My wife and I are heading out this morning to help at a camp for kids with epilepsy near Cincinnati, OH. 57 kids aged 8-20. It was a very rewarding experience last year. We recommend it to anyone with epilepsy who wants to help others in the same situation. Also, for parents, if you have a camp available like this for your kids, it can be a terrific experience.

See you when we return.

Great job!

Our camp for kids with epilepsy here in Colorado was last weekend up at beautiful Estes Park. I keep saying I'm going to help out, but things keep coming up in my personal life. Maybe next year.

We also have Strides for Epilepsy every year here in the Denver area and in Colorado Springs and Greeley. I have taken part in that in years past.

Wow, I've never thought about that...
Wonder if there's one in IL somewhere I could voulenteer at... I'll have to look that up. :)

Buck - What a great thing to do :).
I hope you & your wife have a great time.

You will have to send me some information on this. I live there and know nothing about the camp.

I wish my province had something like that around here, but unfortunately they dont. The only thing they have is a camp for terminally ill cancer kids

WOW - The camp was great. Many wonderful kids just being what they should be - normal kids. It is amazing to watch them react to each others seizures. No staring or comments, just caring and support. With some of the older ones, the adults could stand back and simply let the kids help each other along.

What I also saw was the normal teenage emotions. Kids got upset once in awhile. Some were a homesick. A few crushes were evident. Some were extroverts and some introverts. Basically just like any other kids, except they understood what all of the others were going through. I would guess that at least half of the councilors were former campers themselves.

This camp welcomes kids from all over Ohio, northern Kentucky, and part of Indiana. They even had a kid from West Virginia one year.

They enjoyed horseback riding, zip lines, rafting, swimming, crafts, dancing, talent show, and on and on.

The best were the hugs at the end and them asking us to come back next year!

That sounds pretty awesome. Cheers.
