I just finished watching the Nigeria vs Bosnia game. Do you guys watch soccer (football to those of you who get offended by the term soccer lol) If so which team do you think is going to win the world cup this year? Which team do you support?
I'm from the US, so I obviously want USA to win, but I don't know if that is going to happen since we have to beat Portugal first to get to the Group of 16 stage:pop:
If we win, I'll be a really happy girl:rock:

My wife is from Brazil, so we support them, but since we live here, we also support the US, even though the US has little hope of winning the whole thing. Both of us are thrilled about how well Costa Rica is doing! Especially beating Italy! Who would have thought? I guess that CR is the first Central American country to ever have won two games in a row at the World Cup. I wasn't able to watch any games today because I was working, but I will be watching tomorrow for sure and cheering for the US.

Yes, Costa Rica is one fierce team. I wasn't expecting that lol A lot of underdogs are doing well this year. There is an interesting pattern going on in the world cup. The winner of the previous World Cup gets eliminated in the group stages in their next World Cup. For example, Spain was the champion in 2010. They did poorly this time and got eliminated in the group stage. Before that, Italy was 2006 champions and they got knocked out in the group stages in 2010

My country is FIFA crazy in a way that most other countries probably couldn't comprehend. Personally, I'm cheering for neighbours who quit cheering (and screeching and shouting) at 2 am.

I am pretty certain I can comprehend it, at least vicariously, since my wife is from arguably the most soccer-crazy country in the world. I don't think that there is any other country in the world that is more firmly linked with soccer than Brazil.

The USA are doing good and do not be surprised if they draw with Portugal, they are playing some nice soccer. As for winning it that is a hard question when you consider the teams that have left, I would like to see the Netherlands win but I think it could be Argentina and Messi, he can change everything in a second. Sorry arnie I like Brazil as well but considering the way they have been playing, not a good sign.

I like Netherlands just for their jersey color. I like orange lol

If USA vs. Portugal is a draw, then they're going to have to defeat Germany in order to advance right?

Sorry just watching Korea v Algeria, 0 - 2 at the moment. No if the USA draw with Portugal, they are through and Portugal go home, if they lose a draw should be enough with Germany.

0-3 now lol

Sorry its 3-0 to Algeria now, route one and scored.

Its a good game for Algeria they are cutting through Korea like a knife through butter.

The goal was after you posted, so it's okay lol .If they had played this way against Belgium, their fate would have been different :pop:

Actually Algeria can still do it if they beat Russia. I think they can do it!

katzy

They would never have beat or drawn with Belgium, that day Belgium were on fire.

They would need to beat them 2-0 to be certain of a place.

I didn't get to watch Belgium vs Algeria match, I had work that day. 2-0 against Russia should be easy especially if they could be this aggressive :ponder:

Russia are a lot better than you think, Algeria did not have a chance against Belgium that day, you could have put Brazil or Argentina and I think they would have lost as well, Belgium were just on fire. Tell you something though Clint Dempsey is very good for the USA.

Tell me how do you think the game tonight will go. I think it will be 1-1 with Portugal coming from behind. Who do you think are the best for the USA, soccer wise lol.

Well its 4-1 now for Algeria, Korea should never have scored.
