Today I finally met a great neurologist that I like :) she wants me to taper off the triceptal onto Lamital. Hopefully it works. Anyone else on Lamital ? Any feedback?

Hi PulpFiction,
Good to hear your appt with the new neurologist went well & you like her.
As most of us know sometimes it can be really hard to find a decent neurologist.
I guess I am lucky because I only had 2 neurologists (my local neurologist & 1 at the epilepsy clinic where I had my surgery) & I get along well with both of them.

I was on Lamictal from 2004 - 2006, don't remember having to many side effects from it but it was a while ago lol.
Good luck with the med change.

I've been on Lamictal for a good many years now (I'm sorry but I don't remember how long). I'm also on Keppra, Depakote and Tegretol.

I do have some sorts of side effects but I don't know which meds it's from because I've been on all of these for about the same time.

A few of the things that go on with me are that I'm tired a good bit and I have to control my appetite or I'll start putting on weight. I know there was another med that I was on that I gained a ton of weight with but the neuro took me off of that.

With the Keppra I get kepprage (get pretty angry very easy). That's the only side effect that I know comes from a certain medicine that I'm on.

I'm sure someone will be able to give you more info about the Lamictal in general.

I've been seizure=free on Lamictal for over 5 years now. Side effects are tolerable, probably my least favorite is blurry vision on and off during the day. During the first few months I had very restless sleep with vivid dreams; it's a common Lamictal side effect, which fortunately went away.

Every one has a different experience with E meds. I hope your encounter with Lamictal is positive!

I have this too. It's almost like double vision at times. I wasn't sure what med could be causing this. It's not too often but it usually only seems to happen if I don't get enough sleep and it takes a good while to go away.

I am on Lamictal. I have been on it for a long time and it works well. If you develop any rashes make sure you contact your doc! I am sure he/she told you that.
