I am on 1200 mg of Gabapentin.
I am on 2500 mg of Keppra.

I am having severe pains. I did not know where they were coming from. I thought it might be one of my organs.

Both my doctor and neurologist said that they could find nothing wrong.

I had not paid a visit to my Gynecologist in quite a while. So I went. She decided to an ultrasound of my pelvis, organs and abdomen. I waited a month to do the test. My regular doctor wanted to do CTscan w/wo Contrast. I took the test and a few days later I saw the doctor.

He thought it was an infection of the kidneys. He gave me an antibiotic. I have a scarred Kidney. Yesterday, I saw my neurologist and she told me that Gabapentin and Keppra can cause scarring of the Kidney's. She is starting to take me off of my Gabapentin (Neurontin). I only take 4 a day now.

Has anyone else had problems on any organ while on a medicine? Please share your experience with me.

Ruth, I am so sorry to hear that this is happening to you. And for such a long time. I am hoping the pain fades away very, very soon. My best, B

If it is my medicines, it will go away gradually.

Thank you Matthew, I am not having seizures, yet. With me, it takes 3 days for a reaction to being taken off of any medicine.

Hopefully, I am still on a lot of medicine so that I will not have seizures.

Ruth,
One of the many reasons I was taken off Dilantin was due to one of my liver enzymes being elevated. It was continuously elevated so it was just another reason to switch. I certainly don't want liver problems.
Good luck with your situation. Kidney problems are nothing to mess around with.
Cindy

The first medicine I was on was Dilantin. I was 6 years old. I had a rash that did not go away. My Mother rushed me to the hospital in San Francisco. I was taken off of Dilantin.

My parents were told that I was going to die. I survived. I am now 72 years old.

I am wondering why I have not been sent to a Kidney Specialist? Could it be my liver?

They should be another to tell with blood tests and the CT scans you've had done. A urinalysis should also have been done.

They didn't do a urinalysis or a liver enzyme test. Thank you Cindy.
